Meet the Baker Hi, I’m Zoe — the face behind Dottys! If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind all the cakes, cupcakes, balloons, sweet treats and general chaos that is Dottys… hello! I’m Zoe, the baker, creator, shop owner, balloon wrangler, sweetie picker, cleaner, admin lady, delivery driver and pretty much everything else in between! Dottys is my little dream that has grown into something I never imagined it would become. How it all started My love for baking and creating started long before Dottys became what it is today. What began with making cakes and treats gradually grew into something much bigger. I wanted to create somewhere that wasn’t just about buying a cake — I wanted Dottys to be a place where people could find something special. And so, Dottys was born. From cakes and cupcakes to balloons, sweets, gifts and handmade products from other small businesses, Dottys has continued to grow and change along the way. More than just cakes Although baking is a huge part of what I do, Dottys has become so much more. You’ll find me making celebration cakes one minute, filling balloons the next, restocking the pick ‘n’ mix, arranging gifts, answering messages, creating personalised toppers and wondering where on earth the day has gone! I absolutely love that no two days are the same. A family business Behind every small business is a real person — and usually a family who gets dragged into it too! My family are a huge part of my Dottys journey, and my boys have even been known to make appearances in the shop as my little apprentices. Running a business while being a mum isn’t always easy. There are definitely days when I’m exhausted, covered in buttercream and wondering how I’m going to get everything done. But then I see a customer’s face when they collect their cake, receive a lovely message saying how much everyone enjoyed their treats, or see someone excited about their balloons… and it makes it all worth it. Why I love what I do I love creating things that become part of people’s special moments. Birthdays. Christenings. Baby showers. Weddings. Anniversaries. School celebrations. Thank-yous. Just-because treats. I get to make something that people have chosen to celebrate a moment in their lives — and that’s pretty special. I also love supporting other small businesses and local makers through Dottys. Our shelves are filled with creations from talented local crafters, and I love being able to give them somewhere to showcase their work. And we’re only just getting started… Dottys has come a long way, but I still have BIG plans. I’m constantly thinking about what we can add, what we can improve and what I can create next. The dream is to continue growing Dottys into a little bakery and treat destination where you can pop in for a coffee, pick up something freshly baked, grab your balloons, find a unique gift and, of course, leave with something sweet!
